I want feedback from the community on which platforms are best for hiring software developers. There are many options out there, and it’s not always clear which ones are worth the time and cost. Below are five platforms currently ranked on G2's Job Search Sites category that are commonly used to source engineering talent.
Indeed remains a high-traffic destination for job seekers and offers robust filters to help target candidates by skill, experience, and location. Employers often choose it for its combination of free postings and paid promotion options, especially when trying to scale engineering teams quickly. It also includes candidate screening questions and resume search functionality.
LinkedIn Jobs is heavily used for sourcing developers who may not be actively applying but are open to opportunities. Its search tools let recruiters filter by coding languages, tech stacks, past employers, and more. The integration with company pages and direct messaging makes it especially useful for personalized outreach.
Glassdoor is often used alongside other platforms due to its focus on employer branding. Job postings appear across Glassdoor and Indeed, increasing reach. For tech hiring, it's a good complement to traditional job boards when the candidate experience and internal culture are important decision factors for developers.
ZipRecruiter distributes job postings to a network of job boards and uses smart matching to surface relevant candidates. It’s frequently cited for its “1-click apply” experience and email alerts, which help accelerate early-stage outreach in high-demand tech roles like cloud engineers or software architects.
Monster supports tech hiring with job ads, resume search, and pre-built screening assessments. While not as tailored to developer communities as some other platforms, it can still be effective for hiring junior developers or filling generalist IT roles.
